I’m Anthony. A few years ago I told myself to never blog again. I tend to ignore my own advice. I used to blog about Long Beach, NY with the defunct-SEABYTHECITY.COM*. I did this for about 13 years with great success – so many stories to tell, but I don’t want to bore you with that. Here I am now in Dunedin, a small gulf-side city in Florida observing way too much bloggable crap. I really did not want to blog anymore.. PerhapsI’m just bored and need some creative outlet? I kept telling myself no, but today I said yes. Bought the domain for $5, so here I am.
This blog will mainly be about Dunedin, Florida. I’ll also write about other surrounding areas in Pinellas County and greater Tampa Bay Area. The Clearwater downtown has me fuming, so there will be a lot on that. Part of this blog will also be my discovery of Florida as a whole, as I navigate this strange-hot-humid-orangejuice-flowing-alligator-infested land (I’ve only seen one alligator in the wild since I got here.)
Peeling The Orange, refers to the unofficial symbol of Dunedin – the Orange! Not only are their oranges painted on many houses and businesses here, but Dunedin used to be a big orange grove. It also was part of the Orange Belt Railway. I’ll get to all that stuff someday.
This blog will be completely different from the other Dunedin blogs or groups you see on Facebook. I can guarantee you that. If history repeats itself, at first this will be more of a discovery of the area and it will slowly build. Some articles will be well researched, others will be observations on topics I know nothing about. That being said: A note to native Floridians: You will hate some of the stuff that I write. If that’s the case, this blog is probably not for you.
Also please note: This blog is not affiliated with the City of Dunedin in any way, shape or form. The opinions I write here are my own. I will try to get some guest posts as well. I’m curious to see where this new adventure of blogging will take me. Once I get the format down I will open up the comments on all posts. In the meantime, welcome!
*for those who might have stumble upon this by during a search for Seabythecity, don’t worry, that entire database is somewhat intact. I think I had over 3000 posts. I do still spend a fair amount of time in Long Beach, so one day I would love to get that old blog up and running again in some shape or form. The Instagram is still up though, so visit me there and say hello!
